About Me!

Hi! I'm Omar Shohoud

I have spent nearly 10 years teaching students of all ages in various STEM subjects and test prep. With experience both in the classroom and one-on-one, I noticed that most curricula teach application of math concepts through simple (often stilted) word problems, with little emphasis on high-impact fields. I founded Haytham Institute to blend intuitive and rigorous instruction with a focus on practical application.


Teaching the next generation of scholars has been a deeply fulfilling endeavour. I look forward to working with your students' bright minds and sharing the wonders of the natural world with them!

What is "Haytham Institute"?

Haytham Institute is named after Ibn Al-Haytham, a pioneering Muslim scientist who revolutionized optics with his Book of Optics, proving light travels from objects to the eye and establishing the modern scientific method. The Institute honours the pursuit of knowledge which is encouraged by the Islamic faith and the powerful impact that can be achieved by studying the natural sciences.



Most schools and curricula teach math application through simple word problems that, while intuitive to students, are often contrived and impractical. Haytham Institute breaks this mold by teaching children to apply their math skills in the context of advanced fields, like quantum science, engineering, astronomy, and economics. Several topics in these fields can be understood through foundational math, and Haytham Institute leverages this to give students early exposure to the wonders of the natural world.
